Here's some new music from a quaint little duo hailing from Los Angeles, whose subtle melodies and gentle lyrics.........wait no, never mind I was looking at pictures of baby sloths again and got confused. Deap Valley isn't really gentle or quaint at all, so forget that. They are more like a female version of the Black Keys only with fewer.....pants and more....underboob (which apparently is the new sideboob!). It's like if Joan Jett and Meg White had a baby and that baby had access to a Free People wardrobe, she'd probably come out sounding and looking a little like these ladies. Take a look at the video below for "Baby I Call Hell" and you'll see that this duo is genuinely committed to staying authentic to the genre of hard rock. Check out this link from Paper Mag for some great photos of a recent gig of theirs at The Box in LA and if their sexy take on heart-churning rock ‘n’ roll has you hooked then you will be happy to know the duo have announced their debut full length album Sistrionix, out June 24th!
Just when I thought I had enough studded crop tops in my wardrobe, these ladies make me want to go out and buy more. Danggit.
