The Calgary Collection is an exploration of folk music. Through anecdotes, acoustic performances, and opinions of Calgary's brightest musicians, The Calgary Collection answers the question "what is folk music?" Created by Mike Tod and Gillian McKercher, The Calgary Collection is made for music enthusiasts and casual listeners alike by showing folk music's importance in our social history.
Every day for 1 week, from October 19th until October 26th, The Calgary Collection is releasing a new 5 minute video that features a local folk musician. The Calgary Collection gives a voice to the underground folk music scene and provides a platform for Calgarians to connect with these exceptionally talented artists. This project reminds me how important it is that we continue to support the local music and arts scene right here in Calgary, and that's why I was so happy that Nenshi got voted in as Mayor again because we both share this opinion. So, get off your couch, and get involved in you community by supporting local artists and checking out some live music this weekend. I promise you won't regret it.
