Today's sleepy Sunday features 22-year-old up-and-coming songstress Sorcha Richardson. Richardson is a Dublin Irish native and in 2009 decided to take her music career more serious by relocating to NYC. Her latest album titled Sleep Will Set Me Free is a beautiful collection of emotionally charged songs that feature acoustic guitar rifts and piano melodies, which complement her amazing voice so nicely. I would classify her in the lo-fi folk/dream pop/acoustic genre.
The first track is remix of Richardson's song "I Heart NYC" which is a tribute/love letter to her favorite city. Tristan Fogel, the German genius behind the wicked edit of this song, takes this track from an 8 to 10 in my opinion (listen to the original here). Yay for collaboration!
The second track is called "Nicki" which is a collaboration between Richardson and her good friend Nicki Muller. While Muller was battling brain cancer, her and Richardson started this musical project where Muller's journal would form the basis of lyrics for a new song. Sadly, Nicki passed away but Sorcha finished the project in memory of her. Watch the beautiful tribute video below.
Get cozy, grab a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy this blizzardy Sunday with Sorcha!
