I had the pleasure of seeing Moderat live at the Telus Theatre in Montreal on Sunday night. It's hard to find words to describe how amazing this experience was, but I will try. The German supergroup, made up of Modeselektor and Apparat, captivated the entire audience with their impressive sound and trippy visuals. The crowd went absolutely wild when "A New Error" came on after their first song, which got everyone dancing and stoked for the sonic adventure they were about to embark on. The three performers felt the energy of the audience and decided to turn up the intensity by dropping "Bad Kingdom" on the exuberant crowd. Just three songs in and my mind was blown...this could very well be the best electronic show I have ever been to. The passion in Apparat's vocals combined with the Modeselektor's murderous beats and beautiful visuals resulted in a physical and emotional journey through time and space. If you ever have the chance of seeing these guys live, do it - it will be most memorable. Also, go do yourself a favour and buy their self-titled albums Moderat & II, they do not disappoint.
Ps. I also included three dope tracks I discovered on the trip thanks to the musical prowess of hteb - merci madame!
