Conclusion: 5 stars...this Deutsch dude knows what's up. In a time when dubstep dominates our music culture its refreshing to hear an artist like Milky Chance create his own sound by blending reggae inspired guitar, bass, electronic percussion and vocals. There is a certain authenticity behind his music that is rare in today's scene as artists get lost behind computers and drum kits. The title of his debut album, Sadnecessary, not only resonates with me but provokes self-reflection. Sadness is a necessary emotion and must be experienced in order to feel happiness. Good & evil, ying & yang or Harry Potter & Voldemort are all dichotomies that require mutual exclusivity. And as Passenger so eloquently puts it: "Only know you've been high when you're feeling low". We must learn to accept and embrace the beauty of life's contrasts, instead of allowing the lows to create misery and heartache. Life is tough and unfair, but it goes on, and gets better for he/she who rises to the occasion.
