I have a problem. I've recognized the unfortunate impact it has on myself and others in my life, but I cannot help but have insatiable urges to feed this addiction. It comes at night, day and when I'm surrounded by brilliant minds of the music following world. The people who want music to be a mix of tempo, pitch, rhythm and texture would scoff at my addiction's playful undertones and its ability to put me into a dreamlike state for extended periods of time. Okay I'll tell you. Here it is. It's coming. Right now. Are you ready.....?
I'm addicted to musicals in every shape, form and fashion. I like them in TV shows, movies, music videos and real life. The amount of times I've imagined myself in a quiet library or snobbish restaurant while suddenly being whisked away by swaying beats and gyrating hips is immeasurable. I wish the world would break into song and dance with every dilemma or intense decision people had to make. Singing with the passion of Aretha Franklin and dancing with the greatness of my emotions, would surely bring onlookers to their knees. Tears would fall from inspired eyes while many more would carry the torch of song and dance into their own lives. These scenes of harmony and physical fluidity would solve wars and bridge gaps between the rich and the poor, or at least it would enable me to sing about how much I hate blue eye shadow.
The decision to share my addiction with you was a difficult one but to chose a video that encapsulates my love for musical based moments was even harder. I decided to show you an old, but timely, favourite. The video is unfortunately poor quality, since copyright has been all over these scenes, but it all started with one line, "So, you wanna go to a real party."
Third class Irish dance party.... and queue scene.
