Black Light Dinner Party
Sons & Lovers, the debut album by New York-Boston four-piece Black Light Dinner Party is a beautifully mastered shimmery synth-pop sensation. It's an emotionally resonant album that is equal parts aloof and accessible, alternating between synthesizer heavy tracks and anthemic, beat driven singles. The dreamy lyrics and tight vocals make the somewhat elusive band reminiscent of Flying Lotus, but their New York style makes them completely unique. Tracks like "Older Together" have a surprising maturity to them while their cover of Aluna George's "Your Drums, Your Love" keeps the band young and fresh.
