I'm not sure whether my brother told me to watch this video as a funny or because he's a huge fan of Afrikan Boy; either way, everyone should come to their own conclusions about Afrikan Boy. I might judge anyone who thinks this vibrant man is anything short of amazing, but to each his own. In the end we all must know about Afrikan Boy-R
Fresh off the press is Eminem's 'Rap God' video from his new release The Marshall Mathers LP 2. Holding true to Eminem's style of rap/performing the video features lots of robotic aggression. I wonder if Mr.Mathers will ever stop being sooo mad?! -Rayray
I started a math equation. What do these three pictures equal? I would say some greatness in a song called Free but what do you guys think...?-Rayray
A funky mix for a funky Monday. Mos Def and Aretha Franklin are smoooooth.
I can still remember the first time I saw Azealia's video '212.' I was left with that whoa type of feeling that happens after you learn some mind blowing fact (like sexual cannibalism being common practise in Praying Mantis; some theories believe fertilization during reproduction is even more effective when the males have no head). Azealia didn't chop any heads off their their blocks, but she did delivery some nastily delicious lyrics while wearing a Mickey Mouse sweater. The viral world was marked by Azealia's excessive lip licking and flawless pronunciation of the C.U.N.T word, over and over and over. I think we all needed some Azealia in our life so I'm glad she's still doing her thing. Check out her track 'Atm Jam' with Pharrell.
Check out North Carolina's Phlo Deli doing his thing on the mic. Gangster Shxt features Phlo with Bonafide and C.Pitt. Its a little hip hop for the kids that needs some rhyme time.
Wednesday night at Commonwealth Calgarians had the pleasure of seeing Talib Kweli live. Many know Talib as one half of the hiphop duo Black Star but this mellifluous rapper has successfully released four solo albums and collaborated with great artists such as Kendrick Lamar and Miquel. Hifi was the hosting platform for the concert (even though the show was at Commonwealth) and the performance was a delight to watch. The crowd was pumped to see a hip hop giant like Talib rip up the stage and he was equally excited to be there. I was blown away by Talib's delivery of rhymes, new and old tracks plus some dope covers. It was an overall treat to see all the hiphop heads in Calgary getting so pumped. Check out some Black Star and Talib tracks below.
In 2011 when J.Cole's album 'Cole World: The Sideline Story,' was released I was obsessed. Just like one of his tracks says I couldn't get enough. I wanted Cole in the car, my house, the shower and my bedroom...cause those are my most favorite places to bump a beat. Obviously... I literally had waves of excitement the moment I pressed play for each and every song. Your thoughts may be wondering what's J.Cole up to now?
J.Cole is set to release another album June.18th but some lucky listeners got their fix of this mellifluous rapper's songs four nights ago. Cole set up release parties for a full stream listen of his album in eight select locations around the globe including New York City, London, Toronto, Houston, Chicago, L.A, Atlanta and his hometown of Fayetteville, N.C. Invite only participants were the first audience ears to hear Cole's sophomore album as he was rumored to have kept heavy watch over the much anticipated compilation. Cole has had tremendous success the past few years with being named the best new artist at the 54th Grammy awards and acquiring an ever growing fan base. Yet the 28 year old rapper made a decision that has shocked the music world; he decided to release his album the same day as Kayne West's release of the controversial album "Yeezus." Is Cole committing career suicide or is he making the move that will rocket his music through the charts? Difficult to predict what could make or break success in a musician's professional career but Cole stresses that he's proud of his music and ,even amongst criticism, has stayed true to the rap game. My personal preference will be to purchase the J.Cole album but I'm a sucker for his music and I think he deserves the credit. When June.18th comes which rap city train will you be boarding? The Cole express or the Kanye kaboose? I promise that wasn't a Kardasian jab. She seems like a very nice lady and she is pregnant. Which means she can do whatever her hormone filled body wants.
