These Swedish sisters play their own brand of feathery light indie folk music, that saw them reach a surprising level of fame at a young age when their cover of Fleet Foxes "Tiger Mountain
Peasant Song" went viral on YouTube.
In this album, their songs never lose their chamber choir type potency, but they do have a distinctly lighter tone then their previous releases. Yet despite the lighter tone, their lyrics never lose the heft we are used to seeing from the duo: "I'd rather be broken than empty / I'd rather be shattered than hollow," the Söderbergs sing in "Shattered & Hollow." They are still the sweetly optimistic singers we have come to now but now there is a hidden edge to their delivery. The song Master Pretender has the girls singing about how through lifes unexpected pains and sadness's that they've hardened and are stronger then they thought they were- that they can get through it all now, as a Master Pretender. Even when a song like "The Bell" never accelerates beyond a lightly lilting amble, there's still a potency to it. These girls are brimming with talent and I welcome any time I can see them live, their beautiful brand of charming Swedish folk will always be high on my playlists. I hope you enjoy your first listen and make sure to pick up the album on itunes! -C
Since I recently posted about Buffalo Tales it made sense to show Sam Buckingham some love. These two singers are currently touring Western Australia and are doing a fabulous job. Hopping around the coast of their home country they have lots of shows for listening ears. In between their booked shows they're even giving fans the opportunity to host house parties with Sam and Buffalo Tales as the live entertainment. If you live in Perth, Sydney, etc try to find a house concert near you and catch this dynamic duo in action. Here is Sam Buckingham and her lovely lines.

All of Holly Maher's songs put me in a gentle place where I naturally reflect on my past; connecting to thoughts of old flames, and fond family memories . She sings from her soul and showers every lyric with grace and beauty . Her most recent EP Euphorics came out June.18th and it's wonderful. Check out 'Hiding Place' below along with 'Rest of My Life' because they're soft tunes filled with love. Can't say enough good things about this Nashvillian. In addition to creating lovely music Holly owns and operates a freelance graphic design studio. Check out her website to see some beautiful pictures, videos and concert listings: http://www.holleymaher.com/
