Fat Freddy’s Drop are a New Zealand seven-piece band from Wellington, whose musical style has been characterised as any combination of dub, reggae, soul, jazz, rhythm and blues and techno. In 2013, the band released their fifth studio album called Blackbird, which I highly recommend you check out. The video for Blackbird was directed by Jon Baxter from Perceptual Engineering, who built a 3D model of a blackbird and then set about making it fly and multiply. Baxter's philosophical approach for Blackbird aligns with the darkness of the lyrics by Freddy's vocalist Joe Dukie. "The Blackbird in my garden is often the lingering fear that attacks my creative process and inhibits action. But this can turn out to be the very same force that allows magic to happen, the very thing that gives momentum to dreams and allows us to break through to the other side", Baxter said. That's some wise advice, take it!
Ledeunff hails from Nantes France (the same geographical location as C2C) and has been a part of Hocus Pocus since 2006. Touring around with the French group Hocus Pocus has provided Ledeunff with the prep to create a wicked solo EP. Officially released on Nov.4th his EP has some amazing tracks to showcase his talents.
